Farm Holiday: FATTORIA CASTIGLIONCHIO
The Fattoria di Castiglionchio farm is really an old fortified settlement, dating back to the 12th century, halfway up the hill in the small valley of the "Mulino delle Rivolte" stream,, 15 km from Florence.
It boasts a historic past and many famous owners, "...the house is towered and has several annexes, the ancestral property of the noble family, Ricasoli Zanchini, formerly known as "Da Castiglionchio" of Florence,.," the family name of the famous jurist, Lapo da Castiglionchio, originates from this little castle.
The tower and the palace, both still standing, still have the two original castle doors. This is the very tower where Messer Lapo lived and where he kept his family’s contracts and manuscripts.
Castiglionchio is found only 15 km from the centre of Florence, rich in history, art and culture. Immersed in typical Tuscan countryside amongst vineyards, olive groves and rolling hills.
The apartments are all in the romantic, rustic style fitting of an eighteenth century farmhouse; terracotta floors, wooden beamed ceilings, wrought iron or four poster beds and open fires in the living area, they're also equipped with satellite TV and direct dial telephones. Each apartment has its own outdoor area with chairs, table and sun shade.
Two outside swimming pools are within easy walking distance of the apartments as is the tennis court and children's play area. There's also the opportunity to enjoy horse riding and mountain biking on the estate.
Guided visits of the farm take place weekly allowing the clients not only to see the wine cellars and country life museum, but also sample the farm products. Activities for children are organized and an Internet Point is available at the reception.
A characteristic restaurant offers the possibility to taste the delicious Tuscany specialties. -

Poggio Gaio is the ancient name of the hill where our guest-house lies, name due to the excellent panoramic exposition and to the sun. It is one of the countless hills that, following one another enchantingly, face to the doors of the South area of Florence, distant and unknown to the urban traffic, but at the same time reachable in a few minutes by car from the city centre: because of that the position is excellent too.
Soft hills, plenty of cypresses, olives and fruit trees: this way Poggio Gaio and the surroundings welcome our guests. And not only this way, because just some meters far from our guest-house you find the Galileo Galilei’s house, where he lived the last years, the astronomical observatory of Arcetri, the “Torre del Gallo” castle, a wonderful road-terrace where to contemplate a breathtaking view from, say nothing of the countless trekking paths through the green.
All products are grown on the farm with absolutely organic and natural methods. The Extra Virgin Olive Oil, the fruit are amongst the best in Tuscany, due to the special soil. This confers quality to the Extra Virgin Olive Oil (made with a cold first-pressing) and enhances the flavour of the fruit.
It is possible to buy season vegetable and fruit. No charge for fruit directly picked by our guests up. -

The original two story barn has been converted into a friendly open house, with piano, hifi, fireplace and library, where the guests can practice music, art, theatre and yoga. We are happy to collaborate in organizing meetings and seminars, creative and recreational activities, or simply open to inviting you to relax and enjoy the magnificent view that sorround us.
The huge windows, wooden floor and excellent acustics of the work space make it an ideal spot for seminars of music, dance and group therapy from the world over.
A fully eqipped gym with jacuzzi, an outdoor swimming pool, tennis court, basketball court and “calcetto” playing field permit anyone wanting to stay in shape while on vacation to do so!
We serve meals inspired by traditional Tuscan cuisine and accompanied by quality Chianti DOC wine in our spacious dining rooms, or, weather permitting, outside under the grape arbours or along side the pool. -

Farm Holiday: MEZZANO IN CHIANTI
The farm house Mezzano is in the heart of Chianti, 30 minutes by car from the centre of Florence, 20 minutes from Greve in Chianti and under 1 hour by car from Siena.
It’s at an altitude of 450m, providing a stunning view on the valley below. The surrounding area has numerous tracks for walking and mountain-biking leading to historic churches, houses and to an old castle. The house has its own history as a custom-house in the seventeenth century.
The main products of the farm are olive oil and honey. More than a thousand olive trees have been planted in the property over a century. A forest of chestnuts, cherry trees and oaks takes up the remainder of the land. The wood is home to bees and a rich variety of wild flora and fauna. Our products have no pesticides or fertilisers; we also have occasionally jam, mushrooms sauce and truffles sauce found locally.
The water come from a spring few minutes far from the house: is a very good water!
The house has been restored and is now comprises a main building with 6 apartments. -
Farm Holiday: PODERE LA CASELLINA
Podere La Casellina is a working farm in the beautiful countryside between Chianti and the Arno Valley, an area of chestnut and oak forests, interspersed with ancient olive groves, orchards and gnarled vineyards. This is a small, organic farm, producing fine green olive oil, fresh fruit, seasonal vegetables and wine, and offering a comfortable stay, free of stress and commotion, and not too far off the beaten track.
Here you can picnic beneath the olive trees, gather chestnuts and wild mushrooms in the woods or simply sit back and enjoy the view of Mountains del Chianti and Pratomagno.
The farm is a short drive from Florence, the most important of Tuscany's Cities of Art, and is convenient for the vineyards of Chianti and the other major cities of central Tuscany.
The farm has been in the family for four generations, and the hospitality reflects the traditional and easy warmth of the local countryfolk. The owners are eager to satisfy any requests, appreciating that people come to this part of the world to enjoy the easy pace of life and the beauty of the surroundings
The stables and hayloft have been carefully restored and converted into three simple, light bedrooms with bathrooms and excellent views. Breakfast is provided by the family, who live in the old stone-built farmhouse. Delicious, home-cooked evening meals, prepared by the owner's mother from the La Casellina's produce, are also served in the farmhouse dining-room.
